A brief introduction to our family & this blog
Funny thing: when you decide to start a blog, you first have to name it. You could theoretically name the blog TBD until you either settle on a different name or decide that TBD is, in fact, the perfect name for a blog about life and it’s inherent unknowable-ness. But we digress…
We settled on Roots as the name for this Blog. Feeling it reflects many important parts of our lives: our seeking, reaching global adventures; our distant geographic origins; our familial bonds; and our deep-set desire to live environmentally conscious lives, in recognition that this one beautiful blue marble is all we’ve got.
By way of introduction, we are a busy family of 5 (well, 8 if you count our animals!) - Mum, Dad, and three young kids (8 and under). Mum hails from southern Africa; Dad and the kids started life in the USA. We currently live in Guadalajara, Mexico - a magnificent hidden gem city. Only Dad really speaks Spanish; the rest of us are doing our best! We move every 2-3 years. Mum and Dad both work full-time, Mum remotely and Dad in-person.
